24th of February 2013 SparkyLinux joined to the OIN.
The Open Invention Network (OIN) was founded on November 10, 2005 by IBM, Novell, Philips, Red Hat, NEC and Sony.
The company acquires patents and licenses them royalty free to entities which, in turn, agree not to assert their own patents against Linux and Linux-related systems and applications.
