There are new SparkyLinux 2025.12 codenamed “Tiamat” ISO images available of the semi-rolling line.
This new release is based on the Debian testing “Forky”.
Main changes:
– Packages updated from the Debian and Sparky testing repositories as of December 14, 2025.
– Linux kernel 6.17.11 (6.18.1, 6.12.62-LTS & 6.6.119-LTS in Sparky repos)
– Firefox 140.5.0esr (146.0 in Sparky repos)
– Thunderbird 140.5.0esr
– Grub 2.14~git20250718.0e36779
Important:
– For better performance, I recommend making Sparky installation on UEFI machines with active internet connection.
– Installation via Calamares (menu icon: Sparky Installer) is recommended on UEFI machines. If you are installing Sparky amd64 on an older machine with a 64-bit processor and BIOS, use the CLI installer: ‘sudo sparky-installer’.
– There are 2 new package mirror servers located in United Kingdom UK1 and USA (central) US1.

Sparky 2025.12 amd64 is available in the following versions: LXQt, KDE Plasma, MATE, Xfce, MinimalGUI (Openbox), and MinimalCLI (text mode).
If you have Sparky rolling installed – simply keep it up to date. There is no need to reinstall your OS.
