Linux kernel 4.8.0

 

The first stable version of Linux kernel of 4.8.x line – 4.8.0 landed in Sparky “unstable” repository.

Make sure you have Sparky “unstable” repository enabled:
https://sparkylinux.org/wiki/doku.php/repository
to upgrade or install the latest kernel.

Follow the Wiki page: https://sparkylinux.org/wiki/doku.php/linux_kernel to install the latest Sparky’s Linux kernel.

Then reboot your machine to take effects.

To quick remove older version of the Linux kernel, simply run APTus-> Remove-> Uninstall Old Kernel script.

 

Linux kernel 4.7.5

I have been busy whole last week fighting with new Sparky iso images, but all done so could build new kernel packages now.

The latest stable version of Linux kernel 4.7.1 just landed in Sparky “unstable” repository.

APTus 0.2.2

 

There is an update of Sparky APTus Upgrade tool 0.2.2 in Sparky unstable repository.

I have implemented two changes:

1. The changelog option shows upgradable packages, including informations about the version from and to be upgraded to.

2. It shows progress of the upgrading on the bottom of a terminal window now, during the upgrade process.

I put APTus 0.2.2 to the Sparky “unstable” repository to let you test it and make sure that everything works fine, before moving the package to Sparky “testing” repos, so… please test it.

To install or upgrade it, activate Sparky “unstable” repository:

and install the latest kernel via the meta packages.
