November 2019 donation report

Many thanks to all of you for supporting our open-source projects! Your donations help keeping them alive.

The last October and November all donations brought what we need to pay monthly bills and to cover our VPS as well, thank’s lot! The server bill is already paid so the new one will be ordered soon, and I will tell you know when, via social media, to make sure some problems are possible.

Anyway, counting all our bills and basic needs, we will be trying (asking all of you) to collect PLN 1000/€ 250/$ 270 every month, starting from the January 2020. It is really difficult to survive doing our works for free, selling nothing, as you know that, having the present amount of donations and a few Euros from the adds only. Sad but true.

Anyway, thank’s again for your last donations and don’t forget to send a small tip in December too 🙂

Sparky news 2018/11

The 11th monthly report of 2018 of the Sparky project:
– Sparky’s Linux kernel updated up to version 4.19.5 & 4.20-rc4
– the ‘etcher-electron’ package changed its name to ‘balena-etcher-electron’; uninstall the old one and install the new one if you use the tool
– Advanced Installer fstab config has been improved and the old fashion /dev/sdX device numbers is replaced by UUIDs now
– Sparky Backup Core got configuration of all supported desktops and window managers so a new iso image displays your desktop name at the boot screen now
– APTus got a new small tool called quick-list which searches packages in the repository and displays info about them; thank’s to Elton
– the first Sparky Small Business Server development iso is out, but it is not usable yet, it is really development image
– I also started working on a new application, which was laying down in a dark corner very long time, called APTus AppCenter, which should replace sparky-aptus, sparky-aptus-extra, sparky-aptus-gamer, sparky-offiice, sparky-codecs, and a few other packages, and will integrate all the tools into one providing more useful tool for easy installation many popular applications.

The new tool is very simple and lightweight, as all Sparky tools, and uses Yad and HTML technology.

Any help is welcome to develop the new app, small tips are warm welcome too 🙂

Sparky news 2017/11/30

Sparky monthly report of the November 2017:
– keep building missing packages for armhf arch
– re-built some sparky tools to be compatible with armhf arch
– enlightenment updated up to version 0.22.1 and efl up to 1.20.6, so they are available now for i386, amd64 & armhf archs
– lumina-desktop updated up to version 1.4.0-p1 and is available now for i386, amd64 & armhf
– Sparky 4.7 “Tyche” of the stable line has been released
– Sparky 5-dev20171120 with disk ecryption via the Calamares installer has been released
– Sparky 4-dev20171127 for RaspberryPi has been released
– the latest Linux kernel updated up to version 4.14.3

Having much, and much work to do around Sparky, I consider to cut down (only one less by now) the next coming live/install media of Sparky 5.2.

I also consider to remove dde repository and all the packages – the desktop doesn’t work on Buster as it should, so there is no reason and no enough time to keep it there any longer.

Sometimes the less means more.
