This is thought as a hint for Sparky's maintainers:
In my opinion, for every serious Linux user working with what "debioid" system ever Synaptic is and should always be the most important instrument for all software management - because it lets one never forget about all Linux software consisting of a lot of packages then each of those depending on a chain of many many others! As sooner a Linux user gets familiar with this plan as faster he will get able to fairly manage his system.
So please have Synaptic included in every basic system configuration and as well get it installed completely meaning together with all packages marked as "suggested" by Debian, too - as there are apt-xapian-index, deborphan, dwww, menu, software-properties-gtk and tasksel!
At last, Sparky's Synaptic seems to hold one small bug: Repository management currently can't be done from inside Synaptic - if called one will just see a notice about repositories having changed so the data in /etc/apt/sources.list.d has to be altered manually ...

Hey Yoogle. I had asked questions about the Synaptic problem here yesterday:,4965.0.html . Come to think of it the error logs mentioned software-properties-gtk as well. I couldn't sort it out and have reinstalled straight Debian Testing with no problems or errors.
