My respin of Sparky Linux with Mate Desktop Environment
« on: April 28, 2018, 12:01:37 am »
I am using Debian for many years and tried to respin it for Chinese Linux newbie. I respined it from Linux Mint Debian, MX Linux and now Sparky Linux, all with Mate Desktop environment. Because LMDE 3 delaied too long, and it still lack respin tool, so I give it up now.

There are two major respin Linux distributions on hand, MX 17 and Sparky 4. Here are some sanpshot of the two:

I think Sparky is faster and save more system resource then MX on Mate, but MX's ISO snapshot is more powerful. I replaced 'Sparky Backup System' with 'refractasnapshot' for it claims:

Quote
Refracta Snapshot creates a bootable live-CD image which is a copy of
your running system. Any changes you make to the running system,
including desktop preferences, configuration changes, or added software
will be copied to the snapshot and will be present when you run that
snapshot as a live system.

But I almost break my system and the ISO can't be installed sometimes. Maybe the Sparky team can consider such tool to make it's ISO build more powerful. I remenber 'remastersys' can preserve user setting when I respin LMDE.

What do you mean "to make it's ISO build more powerful."?
What is a different between iso made by sparky backup tool and refracta?
Nothing is easy as it looks.

refractasnapshot  is a builder two but it have alot but alot of bugs , dont work that good,
the best refracta that you can trust is refractasnapshot-base_10.1.1_all all the rest sucks big time , if you are a debian user.
i have try them on deepin 15.6 my 10.1.1 and that works just fine , easy rebuild deepin 15.6 , i was able to deleted the desktop deepin but hold on the softwarecenter inside cinnamon , so hybrid cinnamon deepin ,but not one desktop of deepin , that is very difficult to handle must have some iq
i love to build linux distro's and test things out to the limit ...
