Gparted - a problem obviously spread over all Debian
« on: September 19, 2018, 10:13:05 pm »
To be said in advance, I know very well Sparky's maintainers can't be made responsible for development issues of Debian base! However, there be one or another fair programmer among Sparky team or this community as well who might get successful with working on the problem as follows:
Whenever you have opened a Gparted window it will show a bar at bottom running right and left representing the storage devices searching process repeated after each partitioning or related action you do. Since some Debian updates about a few months ago - sorry for not exactly knowing which ones - that process of searching lasts almost endless (15 minutes or so) everytime it's called by the application. Please be aware of this phenomenon being shown on Debian and its derivatives only but never e.g. on SUSE or Fedora I commonly use alongside!
As I suspect it's because of some new version of libparted or similar. Or around udev? May be, somebody of you is able to solve this problem ...
